Position Summary
This leadership role focuses on product delivery to the customer by means of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), functional leaders, and business executives.
This position will drive operations excellence through the development and implementation of process and activities to meet production goals that drive improvement to on-time delivery, quality, and cost of product. The Operations Program Manager has the discretion, authority and responsibility to prioritize resources across operations functions to proactively investigate and remove obstacles to success. This role must balance competing schedules and help account management set appropriate expectations with Rantec’s customer base. They will seek opportunity for improvement in overall manufacturing efficiency and design, and aid in capacity modeling and build and test strategy. The Operations Program Manager may include supervisory responsibility for the Integrated Product Team Leaders (IPTLs) and must drive consistency in targets, execution, data analysis, and reporting. It is crucial this individual and their team work closely with Engineering during New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure design for manufacturability, cost, and schedule expectations are met.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including but, are not limited to;
  • Coach, mentor, and manage new and experienced professionals to improve project management and drive operational excellence.
  • Set clear expectations on priority and manage commitments to stakeholders throughout the business.
  • Establish overall direction for new processes, systems and solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support long-term operations plans/goals for growth.
  • Work with functional leaders to proactively remove obstacles to cost and delivery targets.
  • Provide input and constructive feedback to IPTLs and other members of the IPT.
  • Steer production and test management to ensure the proper labor, equipment, knowledge, and toolsets are in place to support all active programs.
  • Set expectations with team for Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) including consistent framework, metrics, and deliverables.
  • Drive accountability with team to the labor and material inputs for customer capture plans, including but not limited to the overall cost basis, product cost target, lead times, and production rates.
  • Advocate for the best interest of Rantec and our customers, taking Quality, Cost, and Delivery expectations into account and mobilizing the business to a strategic path forward.
  • Gather and analyze data to share results and provide recommendations for improvement. 
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities across materials, quality, and manufacturing and project manage through yourself and your team to achieve successful implementation.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to procure material in advance or bundle at higher rates to pull in delivery periods, protect against delivery risk, and decrease cost.
  • Work closely with Engineering Program leadership on Transfer Agreement Plans for NPI activity.
  • Promote health and safety culture throughout team and Company
  • Prepare annual departmental objectives and ensure implementation of these goals.
  • Ensure Company policies are managed in fair and consistent manner
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, if needed. 
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Company’s success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.

This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services.  These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons.  Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.

Education and Experience
  • BS degree in engineering or business is required.  Engineering, Supply Chain or Technical major preferred. MBA or graduate level degree a plus.
  • 10 years of experience within manufacturing (aerospace and defense preferred) of custom, high value engineered electronic products preferred.
  • Experience managing production planning and supply chain is critical. 
  • Proven record of managing, developing, and building successful teams
  • Ability to demonstrate sound reasoning skills (critical thinking) in risk assessment.
  • Strong leadership capability; experience in supervising production personnel.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methods and SPC tools.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Access, and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and customers
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills.

  • Lifting and handling of boxes and/or materials up to a maximum of 50 pounds occasionally, and 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job; close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
Salary Range: $140,000 - $183,000 Annually
